Unauthorised debits by elite Mobile

In June 2016 I was contacted by an Elite Mobile agent selling a tablet with 1GIG of data for R100. I was interested but only had my husband's bank details at hand. I asked the agent if I could use it & she confirmed I could. When the agent would call about bank verification I could provide my bank details to finalise the contract. This didn't happen as she said. I received a call around the 17th of June and was told the account is not a joint one, it's in my husband's name, and I cannot use his details to start the contract. It was confirmed the contract was cancelled. However, without permission Elite Mobile activated a value added service and started debiting my husband's account each month. When we discovered it and informed Elite Mobile this was *****, the debits must be stopped backdated, I was told they would only refund 3 months. This is wrong. ALL money must be refunded as the account holder did not give his permission to have his account debited. This is in direct violation of the Consumer Protection Act. I will report it there as well as I need this undone with immediate effect, as I was told in June 2016.

Good day, please provide me with urgent feedback as I am not happy with the fact that you are taking this matter up against me when you knew upfront that I was not sure about my bank account details. As big corporate hides behind its lost calls adds to the poor light you are placed in. The feedback I received from Marilyn is inconsistent. How can one contract be cancelled because I am not the account holder, yet you continue another I am not aware of? I have also addressed this matter with ICASA as well as the NCC & await their feedback as I believe my and my husband's consumer rights have been violated.

Good Morning Mrs Petersen,

Kindly be advised, you provided the account details, unfortunately your application was not approved. Please be advised the value added services is not subject to a credit check and you were advised on the cost and agreed to the services.

Kind Regards, Elitemobile
