Overdeduction of debit order
I was contacted by Elite Mobile (a division of Vodacom) on 12 December 2017 and was advised that I qualified for an upgrade on cell number ********** 151 (data only sim card and handset). The agent then proceeded to advise me that I can upgrade to a Wi-Fi router with a 1 gig data top up per month at a price of R99. When I confirmed that I am interested the agent advised me that an upgrade fee of R150 will be charged. I then advised him that I don't normally get charged upgrade fees due to the fact that I normally do my upgrades via Vodacom direct and if an upgrade fee is charged I would not be interest in upgrading the contract and would then rather remain on the existing contract of R79 per month. He then advised me that the upgrade fee will be waived which I accepted and we then proceeded to finalise the upgrade. I received my new device a few days later. On the 15th of January the new debit order was deducted from my bank account; however I noticed that the amount was for R270 instead of the R99 and I also noticed upon further perusal of my bank account that an additional upgrade fee of R150 which my bank advised me was also Vodacom. I then phoned Vodacom on 16 January 2018 and was advised that I should phone Elite Mobile directly. I then phoned Elite Mobile and spoke to a Marilyn Naicker or Tshepiso Mahini who advised that some one will phone me back. Later a Brittany Harper (reference number 309332) phoned me back and explained how the amount of R270 was calculated and who advised me that there should only be one upgrade fee charged and that they will listen to the recording of the conversation with the agent on 12 December 2017 to confirm whether he did advise me that the upgrade fee will be waived. After 7 days and no feedback from Elite Mobile or Vodacom in this regard I again phoned Elite Mobile on 22 January 2018 and this time spoke to a Veronica Potts (no new reference number as apparently all transactions could be seen under my id number) who advised me that a request for refund was submitted to Vodacom and they did listen to the recording of my conversation with the agent on 12 December 2017 and it was confirmed that the agent did advise me that the upgrade would be waived. I was also further advised that the matter had been sent to the manager for a decision with regards to a refund of the upgrade fee. It's now again 7 days later and no further feedback has been received from either Vodacom or Elite Mobile with regards to the amounts that were incorrectly debited to my account. This frustrates me tremendously as I would never have done the upgrade if I had known that this would be how it would turn out with me being short R300.
