MISLEADING- Making Vodacom customers believe they are speaking to Vodacom
A representative from what I thought was Vodacom called me today and after NUMEROUS times of me saying I cannot hear the line clearly and that I would rather peak to a consultant in store, they proceded to tell me this has to be done over the phone and is an upgrade to my existing Vodacom package where I would be paying R10 more for double the data, R199 instead of my current R189. I do not want to transfer my contract to Elite Mobile, I want to stay with Vodacom. and I told your telesales representative many times that I could not hear the line clearly and struggled to make out what she was saying, I was told this is upgrading my Vodacom account, not transferring to a whole different service provider. Furthermore I have no recollection of anything regarding a second product that they added for another R198 per month named "Home Complete EM @ R198 - SafeBase, Fix My Tech, Extreme Lifestyle, R100 Airtime Rewards Plus" and had I heard the line clearly I anyway would definitely not have agreed to this as I would then be paying more to Elite Mobile than I am to Vodacom, which defeats the whole getting double the data for the same amount thing. The consultant having the information on what my current products from Vodacom are gave me the impression that I was once again, speaking to Vodacom. I asked in the phone call if this could be done in store or over email because I could not hear what she was saying clearly, but I knew she was talking about my data package as she had the specific details on that as well as my ID and other information. Is this not a POPI Act violation that a company I HAVE NOT signed up with or gave information to ever before was able to read my ID number, full name and banking details back to me? This is extremely concerning. They requested a Debi Check on my bank account after the call and as soon as I saw the reference as Elite Mobile I declined it and there better not be any money deducted from my account. I don't know where you got my banking details either, and I only confirmed them because, again, I was under the impression that I was speaking to Vodacom. Please train your consultants to not mislead customers into thinking that you are Vodacom and that they are speaking to a Vodacom representative.
