Elite Mobile

I received a cold call from Elite Mobile, who offered me a 7" tablet and 2GB of data for R109 per month. I accepted since it was a good deal. We concluded the agreement on the phone. The tablet never arrived. After numerous phone calls, and much irritation on my behalf, I was informed that there was a "price increase" on the item and that I would have to accept the price increase in order to receive my tablet. The quantum of the price increase is irrelevant. I insisted on the price that was agreed to on the phone, since I believe the phone call constituted a contract of offer and acceptance. A price increase subsequent to our agreement is of no consequence to me. I asked them to get a more senior person/supervisor/manager to phone me back to resolve this issue. I have made this request numerous times and phoned them numerous times, and I am aware of one call of theirs that I missed. They are clearly ignoring me now, and as a potential customer, I am being treated shockingly. Don't ever ignore a customer. I find it deplorable that they can "hold a person to ransom" by generating excitement for a product, then withholding it unless a higher price is accepted. Their response - there was a price increase, and they can't offer it to me unless I accept the increase. To everyone reading this - THESE ARE THE TACTICS EMPLOYED BY THIS COMPANY. If they phone you to sell you a product, I suggest you read this review and make a sensible decision for yourself. Unless Elite Mobile honour the contract with me, I will NEVER EVER use them again, and can NEVER recommend them to any one. What a disgusting way to try and catch customers by agreeing on a price, then forcing them to pay a higher price for a product, by withholding the product. This is a shameful business practice. Does any one know of an ombudsman I can approach? Less than one star.

blah blah blah. The same response that I have been getting for weeks. These are just nice words. A standard response. I want action. I want the price we agreed to!

Thank you for responding to me last week.

I have now received an SMS stating that my order is being processed, however, the debit order amount stated is INCORRECT and higher than what was initially agreed to between us, and higher than the supposed price increase that was quoted to me, which I rejected. DO NOT PROCESS ANY DEBIT ORDERS FOR ANY AMOUNT GREATER THAN WHAT WAS AGREED TO BETWEEN US AT THE ORIGINAL CONTRACT DATE. I still expect Elite Mobile to honour the original agreement. Please process the order at the amount that was originally agreed to between us.
