Avoid Cybersmart or be offline for 2 weeks

Signing up with Cybersmart is likely to result in lengthy, unnecessary delays. Expect to be offline for approximately 2 weeks. This is because Cybersmart utterly refuses to activate your line until they have preconfigured one of their routers and had it couriered to you. The turnaround time for configuring a router – according to them – is 5 working days. They will only start to configure your router after you have already waited 2 working days for Vumatel to move your line over to them. It will then take another 1 – 2 days to courier the router to you. According to Cybersmart, the entire process can only commence once the previous service provider has relinquished the line. So don’t bother approaching them while your current line is still active. To recap: 1 – 2 days for Vumatel to move your line to them, 5 working days for Cybersmart to configure your new super cheap router, 1 – 2 days for the courier to deliver it. Basically, you will be offline for half a month. If you phone Cybersmart and plead with them to speed up their process, you will be met with pompous levels of indifference and disdain. They will simply reaffirm the above turnaround times to you. Cybersmart could not care less about inconveniencing you, your family or your business. While other service providers will connect you over the phone and send the router afterwards, Cybersmart will - under no circumstances – try to accommodate you. If you are thinking of choosing Cybersmart as a service provider, I would strongly recommend that you to look elsewhere.

Dear Team Cybersmart,

My order number is #***. I have been offline for 3 days and, according to your call centre agents, will continue to be so for at least another week while I wait for someone in your Technical Department to pluck up enough motivation to configure and send me a router that I do not need nor want. I stay in a large home with built in access points throughout and I use a topline router. Your bargain-ba*****t router will be thrown in the trash the moment I am connected. I wish Vumatel would advertise lead times next to each service provider on their website, so that underperforming ISP's like you can be avoided at all costs.
