I bought a vehicle from Chery Cape Gate. On the invoice it states clearly I paid for a "New Extended Service Plan" and an amount of R7316.00. Upon the time where the extended service plan was due to kick in I was informed that there was no service plan. When I produced the invoice, it was acknowledged that it was paid for but they couldn't find it. After many attempts to solve this, Chery Cape Gate has not resolved this and have no explanation as to why. Chery did not charge for the first service out of the initial service warranty however, they have since done nothing about resolving this problem. Take the money and run, it would seem. Just plain dishonest

Horrible Service from Chery Cape Gate – Two Defective Vehicles, No Resolution, and Threats of Legal Action I purchased a Chery Tiggo 7 PHEV from Chery Cape Gate on 18 July, only to discover multiple defects on delivery, including exposed wiring, warning messages requiring service, a faulty boot, and poor vehicle preparation. The vehicle was replaced, but unfortunately the replacement vehicle has proven to be just as problematic. The second vehicle has experienced drivetrain issues where it fails to transition correctly from electric to petrol power and continues to pull aggressively to the left despite alignment checks confirming everything is within specification. These ongoing faults have raised serious safety concerns and completely eroded my confidence in the vehicle. What has made this experience even worse is the lack of customer service. Promised callbacks never happened, a courtesy vehicle was not arranged as promised, and after calling the Dealer Principal 13 times without a response, I was forced to borrow a friend's car and drive to the dealership myself. When a courtesy vehicle was eventually provided, it had virtually no fuel. After being supp**** with two defective vehicles, experiencing poor communication, broken promises, and a lack of accountability, I have completely lost confidence in both Chery Cape Gate and the Chery brand. I have formally requested that the transaction be cancelled in terms of the Consumer Protection Act, as I do not want another Chery vehicle, nor do I wish for this vehicle to be repaired. I simply want a fair resolution and to be moved into a reliable alternative vehicle. What I find particularly disappointing is that, instead of focusing on resolving my concerns as a customer, I received communication from CEO Riki Carriem that I interpreted as a threat of legal action while I was attempting to exercise my rights under the Consumer Protection Act. As a customer dealing with two defective vehicles and seeking a fair resolution, this approach has only added to my frustration and reinforced my loss of confidence in the brand. This has been one of the most frustrating vehicle purchasing experiences I have ever encountered. I am still seeking a practical resolution, the cancellation of this transaction, and a vehicle I can rely on. I hope Chery South Africa takes urgent action to address both the quality issues and the customer service failures that have led to this situation.

Selling older 2024 previously registered vehicles as new 2025 models based on my financed agreement and contract. Causing service history to be skewed and warranty eligibility being questioned.

I normally only use Hellopeter and Google Maps for positive feedback, but have no option as to log a complaint for a change, with the hope that it will attract some attention that will lead to a positive outcome. The two rear tires (Coopers - which are quality tires) on my vehicle developed flat spots. At the 15000km milestone, I experience a slight braking abnormality, which was highlighted to Chery Paarl where the vehicle was serviced. The service center added the complaint to their records, but reported that they could not find anything wrong with the brakes. I was requested to monitor it going forward. By the 30000km service, both rear tires developed serious flat spots. This was confirmed by a tire specialist. When I booked the vehicle in for the 30000km service at the Chery Cape Gate service center, I took both the service manager (Mr du Toit) as well as the chief technician for a drive. Both immediately confirmed hearing the noise coming from the tires as well as physically feeling the abnormality of the the brakes touching and letting go when brakes were app**** softly. When the vehicle was handed back the same day, the same response was given: no fault was found, but that the tires do have flat spots and should be replaced - on my cost. This feedback did not support the experience of both the chief technician nor the service manager, so it could not be accepted. I was requested to book the vehicle back 3 weeks later, this time for a couple of days. The new report indicated that no root cause for the tire damage was found, except for the braking disks not being fully flat, although still within specifications. Therefore skimming should not be needed, but should I request it, Chery will have this done and bill me for it. I escalated my dissatisfaction with the dealer principle, as well as with the franchise owner (Mr White), but received no response. In my correspondence, I offered an option to take my vehicle for a third party inspection, for my cost if nothing was found, but for Chery's cost if any fault is picked up that could lead to the uneven disks / flat spot on the tires. Still no response. I then escalated my concern to Chery Customer service - still absolutely no reply. Chery therefore acknowledged the damage on the tires as well as witnessed the braking abnormality which could be the direct cause there off, did not find any other root cause, but is not taking any accountability to honor the warrantee on the vehicle. Worst, Chery Cape Gate nor Chery South Africa see it fit even to engage with me on the matter, this while replacing the tires as suggested by them, will just lead to the same damage on new tires. For Chery to honor our contract, I expect the company to agree to a third party inspection and if it is proven that the damage is due to a fault on the vehicle, to carry the cost of the inspection and report, repair the root cause, replace the disks, as well as to re-imburse me for the damage on the tires. I am a proud owner of a great vehicle, but deeply concerned about the lack of ownership and lack of customer focus. Kind regards Altus Erasmus

Sale process was good. After service with faults on my brand new car has been horrible. Waiting on feedback, after my car was there for a week! Sales Manager just forwards my complaint to the service department and they just do not reply. I've even emailed Chery SA and NO response to date.

I visited Cherry Cape Gate intending to purchase the Chery Tiggo Pro 4 (2026 model), advertised at R299,900 VAT inclusive. I requested a pre-approval, which was done, and a deal was structured. While the consultant accommodated my requests (interest rate adjustment, balloon payment, and repayment term), I had serious concerns about the final pricing. I was told the finance house, WesBank, increased the vehicle price by over R32,000, which makes no sense. A reduced interest rate (from 10.25% to 9.35%) should benefit the consumer, not result in a higher overall price. Instead, the deal created more financial pressure. In all my years of buying cars, I’ve never experienced a finance house increasing the vehicle price. This lack of transparency is concerning. I’m still awaiting feedback.

I am highly frustrated and terribly disappointed in the performance (or lack thereof) of my Tiggo 4. Since I purchased this car in July 2024, it has just given problems which is not what I had expected at all. I was looking forward to zero problems and only service visits as that is was advertising promises right? "Aiming to rebuild customer confidence in Chinese brands". Since the start, it has been one issue after the other and when I pull the car in at the service department - they already know the number plate (B4TM4N-WP) and I'm sure they dread working on the vehicle. At first it was a sunroof issue, twice actually and to be quite honest, some days, it still does not want to open manually. Then there was the central locking which also from time to time is not working as it should, as well as every time I switch on the ignition, it tells me "I'm sorry but for now the system is not working. Please give me a moment" error. I don't just turn on the vehicle and drive, I do let it idle a bit and then remove it from "Park" and this does not make a difference. I was told a "system upgrade" would resolve this, but alas, I still sit with this problem. Then, there was a weird "tractor" sound and the car losing power whilst driving normally and going uphill, the sound just keeps getting worse. So this is not an "irritating" problem but something that really concerns me in terms of safety. So I had it checked out and after analysis I was told it is the solenoid that needs replacing. We had to wait quite a while for it to be imported, and while that was replaced, the battery ran flat. We actually only found this out because we have an extremely sensitive tracker on the car, that notifies us of basically every movement of the vehicle and we received a notification that the battery had been disconnected. When we phoned to ask what was happening with the vehicle we were told that the car would be ready later the day, obviously because the battery was on charge at the time. So my wife said that we can see the battery was removed. Eventually they had to replace the battery because I felt that if the battery ran flat, I wanted a new one as I don't want to struggle with a damaged battery after a while. Now, a few months later, the same problem is creeping back in - I can hear that same sound again. I reported this in December and I was told that the diagnostic person is only back from leave on the 5th of Jan and hence the car was booked in for yesterday(06/01/2026). When I got there yesterday morning, I was informed that this person is only back on the 12th of Jan. Now, I work for a Bank and I am not on leave - it is a huge inconvenience for me to bring my car in, arrange for transport etc, only to find out later that, nothing was done to the car and it needs to go back on the 13th of Jan. I am very despondent at the moment and it takes a lot for me to be typing out an email like this. Ever since I got my Chery, I have been promoting the brand and eventually I also want to upgrade. We got my wife one as well, and I even got my mother in law, as well as sister in law to purchase Chery's. All of them are happy with their purchases, but I seem to be the one with the defective car. Which is very ironic as I had to do a lot of convincing to my mother in law and sister to purchase their cars as they always swore that VW is the best. I know that you take pride in providing excellent customer service but the only pleasant interaction I have experienced thus far was the sale of the car :-( I really don't know what to do, I honestly feel like leaving the car at the dealership and handing you back the keys. Vehicle currently BACK at Chery Cape Gate Service department. If you guys don't know how to fix my Vehicle I want I new Vehicle by the end of this week. And I am NOT interested in empty promises that you have fixed the problem. This Vehicle has been in the service garage more than in my own garage.
