Data usage tracking needs to be more transparent
I have been using Axxess's MTN 5G internet service since September 2023. The option comes with a 1 TB "soft cap", after which your speed is downgraded to 2Mbps. I meticulously track my usage across their mobile app, website, and even my router's interface to ensure that I stay within this cap. This month, every platform showed I was within my limit, hovering somewhere around 930 - 950GB. I was shocked, however, to find that my internet had been throttled to a snail-paced 2Mbps last night (30 March). I contacted customer support, expecting a simple resolution. Instead, I was informed that I had indeed exceeded my 1TB limit, racking up a total of 1007GB. Axxess claims a 24-hour delay in updating usage data is the reason I am not getting the full picture. According to them, the data usage I am seeing all over doesn't correspond with what they have on their system. I've used their app and website for months, and data usage has always seemed to update in near real-time. To be told there is a 24 hour delay is infuriating and makes it so that I can no longer trust the information passed to me about my usage. How can I manage my data usage effectively when the information I'm provided is inaccurate and delayed? I feel completely misled and cheated - surely if I had known I didn't have data left I would've used it more sparingly. If, like me, you value accurate data tracking and a transparent service, then beware of this or better yet, look elsewhere for a more transparent service provider.
