Axxess VoIP - a pitfall and crisis. A honest review
You know, as person who have worked for over 2 decades in the Information Technology sector, with an NQF8 degree and also and NQF6 diploma (also as part of my work experience worked for an ISP in the beginning - mid first decade) in said sector I tend to choose my ISP's carefully.
I have chosen Axxess because due to various reasons but with the deciding factor always quality of service / value and cost. For the most part I never have experienced to much of a setback - again, all ISPs have their weaknesses and occasional problems - but never in my life have experienced what I am struggling with now.
That is, the VoIP provision of their service offering, issues ranging from porting of various numbers where the request and supporting documentation were given at the same time and only one of those being successfully ported but the other not and then the appalling wait time (since at the time of writing this it is WELL past the stated duration, talking circa 2 months) while paying in Telkom at the same time we are paying for a service through Axxess which we cannot use.
Worst part, to activate a voip service followed by the configuration details and only after activated on the VoIP device (GRANDSTREAM) and making mention of this to them that it is been configured, tested, working and in use follow by a response that they activated it by 'mistake', the latter used for a Dental practice.
Look I am stating facts, not opinions, could not care less about opinions. One would presuppose that liability or accountability or heck even responsibility would be something they take upon themselves. I mean at the very least I have the technical background albeit more focussed towards computing in terms of software engineering, scripting and overall development... I am still qualified and have direct ISP experience, how much then should consumers/clients who do not have this background struggle??
I give them a one star because of the the context related to VoIP, in that sense I would not recommend them for VoIP at this time. Other services such as connectivity and hosting perhaps though it is hard to maintain a level of trust if such a critical aspect (VOIP) is such a insufferable and poor service offering.
I rarely write reviews, I do mean rare. I am not defaming them, that is not my point, not my desire. I am simply providing that which is based on my experience. I know it is a long review, but context is important to me as is being ethical and respectful
