Wrongful account charges and almost no knowledge on the products they sell
Issue 1: So where do I start. Most staff are friendly and they reply quickly to tickets 7 out of 10 times. The good ends there, I've been a customer for years now, but thing went down hill till now. I upgraded my 20Mbps VDSL Capped line, to a 20Mbps Pure DSL account to get the phone line expense away (its advertised on Afrihost as ADSL and VDSL). On the 23rd of June 2020 I cancelled my Old line and data and got my Pure DSL installed. Now they billed me for the old account again and It's not even in use. It's a lot of money to just lose in tough times like we are in now, you just don't throw R664 into the water like that. I did open a ticked and in the reply they said I should have cancelled my account by the 18th of the month. I thought if I upgrade that it will automatically switch to the new payable amount from the end of the month and no one informed me that I will be billed for the old amount as well. Now what can I do? No one seems helpful at all.
Issue 2: My second issue really aggravated me, and I'm normally a very "chilled" person. After upgrading to Pure dsl, my line was on ADSL only, and each time I asked them to get it switched to VDSL, I get responses that shows they have no knowledge on the matter. I called Afrihost once, and the person I talked to said they don't sell the adsl and vdsl packages anymore, only dsl, which shows they don't know anything about how it works. Secondly I got replies like, quote; "A 20Mbps line above is considered as VDSL. The Pure DSL is a far more superior product to the old DSL system." Which is not true, it only takes away the telephone aspect. Btw, my line still does not pick up VDSL. I also had replies like "The Pure DSL service you are on, is a 20Mbps, which should give you an upload of 10Mbps," Also not true, its 5Mbps upload, but like I said I'm back to ADSL which is 1 Mbps upload. I got a reply that my line is in multi mode and that it should support both, but talking to an openserve technician he told me they should log a call for the line to get switched to VDSL. I asked them to log a call but so far nothing, not even a ref. number. I can't recommend them anymore. It's so hard to get on the line with someone who actually know how everything works. So many other instances happened where they proved they have no knowledge.
