Worst internet service provider ever
The strap line for Afrihost marketing is "Pure Internet Joy" but I have had 13 days of "Pure iInternet Hell." and I'm not the only one as I have found out in my area (Kommetjie, W.Cape) at least 3 others have had worse experiences than me. This included a sequence of events (13 days without internet) that led me to consider cancelling my Afrihost service--which I am trying to figure out how to do. They don't have any humans/people servicing the Cape area, so they do everything through call centres. I ended up sitting on the phone -a landline- for hours at great expense; sitting with my laptop connected to the router in endless cycles of repeating myself, going around in circles. The router was broken, they'd send a new one in 3 days (no courier service for urgency). A week went by, and they hadn't logged it. Another week, and another issue. I wasn't getting anywhere with them, and I noticed that one of the lights on the Frogfoot box was red, so I phoned them directly. They responded immediately --even on a Saturday night--and sent a very skilled technician out on a Sunday who diagnosed everything and gave me a good understanding of how bad the Afrihost people were. Frogfoot diagnosed the break in the cable and came the next day and fixed it. The outage caused me to unneccessary loss of time and business. and income Only after I'd lost my cool on the phone and followed with an email, the internet returned the following day - today - not a word in apology or even explanation - all round appalling service. We're at their mercy - I pay a fortune for the fibre line and have lost 13 days of usage paying for data and their land line help.
