If I could rate this as a half star I would. My journey with Afrihost began really well. In fact I was duped into thinking they offer stellar service. This was prior to any issues.
In January, I had an issue with super low speeds, much lower than the package I was paying for. I called the call center, and the guy on the line resolved the issue. By the end of February the issue was back tenfold. The guy who assisted had asked the engineers to take a look at my line (I assume he's referencing Openserve) and there was no feedback as to whether they found an issue or not.
Fast forward to the previous Sunday, I got a call back at 8 pm. When I told the guy who answered the issue with my line, he immediately said it would make more sense for him to ask the guy who was on the call with me previously, to call me back the following day and help me from where we left off.
Monday: I received no callback. So I sent a request to Afrihost. A woman responds this time, she says she understands my situation, and we go about doing several tests which I then send the results as screenshots via email. I am told they'll get back to me and provide feedback.
Tuesday: No response
Wednesday:
I get a call from Openserve, they ask me to run a speed test. I tell them the results. And when they jump off the call with me, they tell Afrihost the issue is resolved. I was unaware of that interaction though. Of course for the remainder of Wednesday my issues continue and I keep trying to reset to see if there's improvement.
Thursday: Cut to today. No updates, I tried to get some answers on Twitter but they were rude and trying to establish blame (for twitter views, I assume), so eventually I end up responding to the email address I was instructed on, from Monday. I get a really glib response where Sibusiso says he believes the issue I'm having is based on my router needing to be renamed and getting a new password. He then says if I need help rectifying this issue I should let them know. What a novel idea?! I emailed for help, but I should email again and state I need help. I responded to his email. Crickets.
I then decided to request a callback. I get a call and I explain what the email states, about renaming my router and generating a new password. The person on hold says they see no issue with my router, that would require that. So now I am on hold as we're about to check if the firmware needs an update.
Will I finally reach a resolution? Will I get feedback about the tests that were run? Will Sibusiso respond to my email? Who knows? All I do know is that I am extremely tired and frustrated. If you need to sign up for fibre, do not use Afrihost.
