When you wish you'd gone with Telkom, you know it's bad...

Further to my previous review (https://www.hellopeter.com/afri-host-com/reviews/do-i-have-an-order-with-you-or-not- ********** ), this is where we are: - I still don't have the router that the courier allegedly collected from Afrihost's warehouse four days ago. - Afrihost refuses to refund me on the grounds that they "normally" only activate and charge for the line after the router has been delivered, contrary to what at least three different Afrihost staff have told me. They also claim that this was a migration, not a new activation for some reason I still don't understand (because they refused to accept my order until the fibre was live, but if it's live when they get the order then it's a migration, so can be activated immediately. If that's the case, then there's no such thing as a new activation in Afrihost's world - see point about refusing an order until fibre is live). - According to Afrihost, I don't actually need a router to access the service, because I can just move my PC closer to the box and connect it with a LAN cable. The fact that nobody else in my household can use it, or that my phone doesn't have a LAN port (!), or that connecting a device locks in the MAC address to the box and has to be reset each time a new device is plugged in is entirely irrelevant. - Afrihost staff are all "really sorry" about the inconvenience, expense, lack of delivery, shoddy service, etc, but not actually sorry enough to fix it, or deliver on their promises.

Honestly? If you have a choice between Afrihost and Telkom, go with Telkom - their hold times are shorter, their call centre is more efficient, their staff tell fewer lies, and they have more/better/brighter clues than Afrihost ever will. Or tie two tin cans together with a piece of string. It's cheaper and infinitely less painful all round.
