Beware of the Afrihost Hosting department whose view of their clients is that we are highly skilled IT professionals and should intuitively know how their systems work. We had a dedicated server hosting package. We requested the downgrade of the hosting package from the dedicated hosting package (which happens to be hosted on a dedicated server) to a shared hosting package (hosted on a shared server). This is mid-April 2024

Come May, we get billed for the old package and the new one. Upon query we are told that just because we requested a downgrade in the hosting package this does not cancel the dedicated server fee, notwithstanding that our website is no longer hosted on the server.

You are supposed to know that in addition to the change in the web package, you must also cancel the server. This requirement is not mentioned on their site or process at all. So, note that if you sign up for a dedicated hosting package (their name) and then change to a shared package (their name) this does not mean that the one replaces the other.
