Terrible service from Afrihost
Such terrible service from Afrihost, which is super sad because they were still one of the good companies left in South Africa.
I have been with Afrihost for almost a year now on a LTE connection because my area did not have Fibre piping installed at the time yet.
I asked and was told by Afrihost that moving from LTE to Fibre would be ceaseless, once the piping installation was completed. I was told that I am welcome to pre-order my Fibre installation, and as soon as the necessary installations were completed, I would be contacted by Afrihost and moved over. They confirmed to me that this was hassle-free.
About 3 months after Fibre has been active in my area, there was still no word from Afrihost, so I contacted them. Got modem the following day and right now the technicians from Octotel are doing an amazing job at installing my Fibre line.
Here is the problem though. So, today I contacted Afrihost via their WhatsApp option to enquire how things will proceed forward. The customer care agent informed me that because I have a LTE connection currently running, it will run concurrent with the Fibre line.
Long story short, I was told that because I already paid LTE for this month, I can only cancel it as of the first of next month. Today is only the 2nd of the month!!! My agent told me that there is no way we can reach any prorata agreement. Also, this agent quite a snappy attitude, which I thought was really unkind.
When I asked that the agent to then let the technicians come at a different time, since I’m working from home for myself and would rather use this time for my business, especially with loadshedding going on. I was told that I had to contact them myself.
My hardware installation for Fibre is now complete and I think I will much rather go to MWEB at this point, because I never had such pure nonsense problems with them. It is not like I am going to another company and Afrihost is losing money from me, so I fail to see how they can outright refuse to meet me halfway, after they assured me that the swop will be ceaseless, plus they neglected to keep their promise to me about getting this Fibre connection done to start with.
