Terrible Service & Double Billing from Afrihost
I am getting frustrated with the service I have been receiving from Afrihost that I feel it is time to move on but before I do I would like to bring the following to attention. I moved from Mweb and Telkom to Afrihost thinking the service, speed and ownership would be better thus far it has been pointless (Except for one person by the name of Dean who always introduces himself as the late night technician) I commend this gentlemen for his endless help and perseverance. Last year Dec when I was out the country my brother in law had endless issues with our internet, we had just prior to this moved from a 2mb download speed to a 10mb download speed however the sales person who assisted us never informed us that perhaps we should change the dsl to 10mb as well so our internet would be faster and easier to work with (in my opinion this should have been mentioned as a sales person and a company that provides internet) no thought was processed into this action! I got back in January and changed the dsl to 10mb at this time the site offered fiber for my house and I signed up with emails stating it would it 5 weeks possibly 7 weeks to have this connected, I received the fiber router within 2/3 days but after 2 months never received my fiber. I contacted Afrihost and got told it is not available in your area as per the site which when checking in January it was available and emails confirming this, due to this I decided to cancel my order for the fiber as it was a falsely advertised scheme to get members to sign up for the future year to come and not actual fiber in my area or road. As soon as I cancelled my order I got nailed with a bill of R912 odd for the router, I asked Afrihost several weeks ago to collect the fiber router as it hasn't been touched and to remove the R912 odd from my account. The gentlemen I spoke to in the accounts department advised this was an automated billing system and that someone in warehousing would be in contact with within 3 working days to schedule a collection time and date, this was March. To date I received threatening mails that my service was being suspended as Afrihost didn't debit my account as per normal monthly charges, they advised that they tried to debit the R912 odd and it bounced so they didn't debit the monthly charge. On 3rd April I paid the monthly charge so they wouldn't suspend my account and asked again for the router to be collected. That evening Afrihost went and debited my account for the same monthly charge I paid earlier that day which proof of payment was sent to the accounts department. 4th April I called the accounts department, after sitting on hold for 20 minutes with no confirmation when the router would be collected or when they would give me my money back for the double payment, I only got told someone will contact me within 48 hours to arrange for my monthly charge to be credited back into my bank account. I have now tried every day since then to contact Afrihost but seems every time I call there is a caller waiting of easy 12-16 people which in the end I just sit on hold with no contact, I have left several messages for the accounts department and manager to call me, I have emailed with no response and honestly feel my money has been ******, there is no service from Afrihost side regarding the double payment of my monthly charge and when is the router going to be collected so the R912 odd can be removed from my name for a service that was falsely advertised from the beginning by Afrihost. Sadly, I had to turn to Hello Peter to get some kind of response, is this honestly the service we get in SA.. I would of thought better service would have been offered from Afrihost but in reality, this has not been the case.
