Terrible service, beware the cancellation penalty!

Having been a client of Afrihost since around 2010 I migrated my fibre line to my new house end last year.

I had to go from Openserve to Vumatel as this was the only cable provider available at the new premises. I quickly found that the fibre cable installation to the house was done terribly, with part of the cable running on top of my roof and in under the roof tiles.

I notified Afrihost and requested the cable to be rerouted properly but the message came back that I would need to pay for the reroute. I explained that I found the cable like this when moving in and did not damage it/change anything on it, it was installed improperly from the start. Still I was required to pay for the reroute.

All along I was having connectivity outages about weekly since Jan 2023. Despite me requesting an investigate as to the repeating nature of the issue, cases were being closed as soon as the connection came back.

All this made me decide to cancel my service with Afrihost, but because I cancelled within 6 months of signing up they slapped me with a R999 penalty fee. Insult to injury.

I did not receive a free router from them when I signed up so cannot even understand why they would charge such a penalty.

I will never do business with them again - beware!
