Telkom resolves issues faster than Afrihost
I have unfortunately had the worst imaginable service from Afrihost, contacted them approximately 7 times with limited to no response, and charges for packages I did not request.
The short story: their webpage would not let me buy 1gb Prepaid data for my wife and I, and thus I had to call to the call centre to have them add the data. Unfortunately, they signed me up for one of their monthly packages rather that adding 1GB prepaid data, which is what I asked for, I had to call in again to get their mistake reversed and refunded, after which I asked them again to add 1GB prepaid to our sims. Again they signed me up the the incorrect package, despite clearly telling them them I want 1GB prepaid for R69. I had to again call in and have them credit me and reverse their mistake. I tried again the third time, and once again they signed me up for the wrong package. I cannot make myself clearer, I want 1GB PREPAID for R69 which includes a free GB and 2 months rol*****. Three times in a row they've got it wrong. Why do they keep signing me up for the Mobile One package for R68 that expires at the end of the month and doesn't get a free GB????
Second, don't bother submitting a support ticket. You submit a ticket with full details of the issue, and after about 5 days, if you get a response, it will be "Apologies for the delay, how may I assist"? Then if you copy and paste the issue already described when you submitted the ticket that they didn't bother to read, you'll wait another 5 or so days only to be asked "Has you issue been resolved yet?" No Afrihost, it HAS NOT been resolved, because you have not bothered to address it.
Lastly, it typically takes me speaking to two different customer support reps before I find someone who is competent enough to understand the issue. Problems is they start the process, check it's done correctly this time and get back to me, but they never do. If your issue isn't resolved while you're on the phone, it will never get resolved, ever.
Afrihost unfortunately no longer seems to have staff who can deal with issues that are outside of the normal 5 or so issues typically experienced. If it's any more complex, you can forget it. Afrihost really used to have the best support in the industry, and it makes me sad to see how different that is now. Sadly I get better support from Telkom, which says a lot.
