strongly don't recommend ordering fiber service from Afrihost: they couldn't organize it from 30/04 up to 21/05
Fiber installation ordered 30.04.19, up to 21/05/2019 fiber has not been installed, company hires unreliable service providers, and cant give clear and concise answer on when the router delivery of fiber installation will take place. Spent already about 150 min of the airtime trying to find out information on my order & get the service (speaking 2-4 times per day for last 4 working days). Courier company performance: 9/05 13:48 sms recieved that the parcel with router will be delivered that day & courier will be contacting me, by 15:30 no one contacted, when I called Afrihost, they said that courier failed to deliver as the I was not available, call center employee said that he rescheduled the delivery for the 10/05 from 15:00 till 16:00 (NB: security in my complex told me that there were no couriers that day). 10/05 I sit at home waiting for courier, by 15:20 start tracking my parcel through the Afrihost what's up application. Parcel details given to me cannot be found on the courier company site, no answers on the phone number mentioned on the site of that company. 15:30 contacted Afrihost call center, they advised to wait for the courier company and told couriers work up to 16:00 & don’t work on weekends. 15:38 called the hotline again, spoke for 10 min 25sec, they couldn’t reach courier company either, promised to call courier people they know & return to me, and did not return. 16:14 called again, spoke for 24min 36 sec, the call-line specialist couldn’t give any clarity, and said that the courier company will contact on Monday as they don’t work on weekends. 3) 11/05/19 approx. 10:20 call from unknown number received, person introduced as the courier company worker, and asked why am I not at home, their courier is there, and I need to go back to home to take the parcel, after explanation that I am at pottery and can’t come, they wanted to leave the package at the gate; after another 5 min of conversation we rearrange that the courier will come to me shortly (driving time to the place where I was is 15 min). Courier delivered the package only after 7 hours! Fiber installation: 13/05/19 11:44 Openserve called me telling they want to come & install the fiber, I explained that I am at work & can’t leave my work. Then explained that 14/05/19 I can’t be there earlier than 15:00 as I have work meetings that I can’t cancel, Openserve employee told me that they are working only up to 4 so they can’t come as the installation will take from 1 to 3 hours. He said that they do work on Saturdays, and that he’ll schedule the fiber installation Saturday 18/05/19, he refused to provide exact time, and said they will contact me upfront to agree the time slot. 17/05/19 called Afrihost line to understand the delivery timing, call-line operator told me that there is no time window set up so far, but that I should wait for the Saturday and that usually the installations are done from 8:00 till 12:00. 18/05/19 was trying to reach Afrihost (lines switched off), tried to google the Openserve number, couldn’t find, no one showed up 19/05/19 08:28 received a call from Openserve technician, who said that he will come today to install the fiber. I explained that this is not acceptable level of service, that no one called upfront to arrange time and I cannot leave work as per last minute notice. Asked to give me their planning team number, to arrange with me upfront the timing of the delivery on the upcoming Saturday. He has not provided the number, said that he will schedule it for Saturday. 19/05/19 09:30 contacted Afrihost call centre to find out the Openserve contact number to make sure that the installation is properly planned. Operator promised to contact Openserve to make them call & agree the installation timing. No feedback received. Wrote 9:52 to customer complaints email, 14:47 answer on Ticket ID: IWX- ********** 4 received 'Apologies for the inconvenience caused. Please note that the installation shows to have been scheduled for today unless if they arranged a different date. The last mile provider usually schedules the installations from 08:00 to 16:00. ' Responded describing the situation & had received no response back. Called afrihost again, though another set of the conversations got the number of the Openserve. After a ping-pong from one Openserve department to another, Openserve operator on the number ********** 676 refused to talk to me as they talk to Afrihost only, and don't talk to technicians who do installation & that afrihost must contact the service manager about the order & that that the people who were calling me & introducing as technicians are lying as the Openserve sends email with time when they will come. Call Afrihost again, requesting contact the service manager & give me the time when the installation will take place to be able to plan my work & life time. Operator raised claim QAE-415-521-99. 21/05/19 8:59 calling Afrihost to understand the progress & status, operator replies that the Openserve answer was that installation failed due to customer was not answering the phone/couldn't be contacted. Shocked with the level of stupidity of the lies from Openserve, point to operator that if needed can pull out the record of the phone number with minutes spoken on that call, and ask to support me with cancelling my order as obviously the Afrihost is a no-go provider of fiber for me as well as their counterpart Openserve as the line installer. Operators asks to give the last chance & he'll do his best to solve it, he returned to me in 1 hr and said that Openserve rep**** that they will contact me by the end of the week to set up the installation time. I explain to the operator that this is the answer they were giving me last week & I am not accepting it, and that as per Openserve guidance from my yesterday phone call & want to have in-written in email by cob today the date & time of installation, otherwise I want to cancel the order. Operator is not returning by the agreed time of midday. 12:30-12:45 talk to another call center specialist & explain the case again & again operator is asking to give Afrihost the 2nd chance, and pressing to stay with Afrihost with 'if you will decide to cancel the order, then it will take us up to 2 weeks to cancel it & you wont be able to go to another provider that time until we finalize the cancellation of the order'. He promissed to escalate the problem to seniors & return back to me 13:15. Now 13:20, no one returned, plan to call them for the order cancellation in 30 more min.
Bottom line, if you want to waste your time, money, destroy your schedule, have lot of stress and sit on a steady diet of misinformation, lies from Afrihost contractors, welcome to have business with the Afrihost. The only good performance that i noticed is operators from call center are trying to do what's in their power to help and stay polite in a stressful work.
