Strike 2 for Afrihost

Upon signing up to one of the biggest ISP's in South Africa for a Fibre line toward the end of January. I am yet to be provided with the services offered and agreed upon. However, my billing as already commenced.. Afrihost has done well to make sure they get their money from me. I was supposed to receive a router on 31/01/2018 which was to be delivered to my office. I suggested with the consultant that I collect it as I work on Rivonia Road and their offices are nearby. She agreed and said she will ensure the unit is available for collection the next day. I sent a confirmation/reminder email in the morning that I was collecting around 1pm. I get to their offices, when I eventually get my turn with the consultant they inform me that the unit has already been dispatched and refused to give me another unit ... I leave empty handed. 1 week goes by and I have not had delivery of this unit. I enquire with Afrihost and they say it was delivered and signed by *NAME* at reception... they still don't know where the unit is nor who has it. After another 4 days I want to cancel my agreement which hasnt even started officially yet but they somehow, all of a sudden, manage to organise me a router if I come collect it.

Happy that this stress is now over I plug in everything as instructed when I get home to find that I am only running 3.5Mbps when I should have a 10Mbps Download package. I contact Afrihost the next and explain my new problem. They suggest I insert the LAN cable and run a speedtest before they make any adjustments. I do so that evening and contact them again the following day. They don't know what the problem could be but suggest that they reset the port on their side and I must test again. Saturday comes... Same problem. My 4Mbps ADSL line through Webafrica was running a faster speed than my 10 Mbps Afrihost Fibre!!!!! They eventually log a complaint with Telkom/Openserve.

Openserve investigated today - In short, Afrihost instructed Openserve to install a 4Mbps fibre line at my house and not the 10Mbps line I app**** and am paying for. I had to contact them to tell them what the problem was for them to fix it.

Well Done Afrihost - Strike 2! Great Start!
