Shocking technology support and bad service
We have been with Afrihost over 2 properties and over the span of 2 years. We have never been able to acquire a stable line with them.
This year we moved to Sea Point, Cape Town and have a 200Mb up/down line which is never stable and cannot connect throughout our house even with mesh networks setup (at our own cost). See the end for more details on this.
Afrihost support consistently tells us the same process of 'resetting our router' and 'try plugging in via ethernet' most modern-lean households and workspaces do not have devices equipped with ethernet (MacBooks, Chromebooks, Mobile devices, televisions) support then goes on to ask us to purchase adaptors so that they can help us with support which is unacceptable service for and ISP.
We have not been able to get a technician to come in and if one does try to replace the router or get it checked we have to pay the transport fees.
Guys, please assist this is not a great showing of an ISP that we pay over R1000 a month to.
Router replacement continuation The D-Link router provided with our Afrihost connection is unable to sustain a 2G connection at the required speed. We consistently get under 10Mbps on our 200Mb line and we can only connect to a quarter of our ~660 square meter home for both 2G and 5G channels.
We purchased a new router because if we log a repair request it would need to be sent in and we would not have internet during the time it was away. (Afrihost does not provide a temp device to ensure continued service)
To try and resolve the connection we purchased extenders and converted one of the routers to a repeater which still provides unacceptable internet speeds.
Afrihost please get someone to our property as soon as possible. We are all tech professionals hoping to use our internet package as best possible.
