Potential for Identity Theft

<p>Afrihost required a colour copy of my Identity Document for them to approve my account. They requested this in electronic format. If I would have provided this to them, what guarentee do they give that my ID will be protected and only used according to the POPI Act. If international institutions are hacked daily and personal information is ****** daily, how will they be able to protect my ID. I asked them to review this policy, as this is a threat to me and they declined. Until companies in SA and globally for that matter do not realise the effect of ID Theft, they should not be used as service providers.</p>
