Porting to afrihost airmobile - Nightmare, dont do it.

What a nightmare to port to afrihost airmobile. 1st i did not receive the R1 deposit to verify payment details. i contact support who tells me to contact accounts. I contact accounts, who goes by the name of LungaM.

LungaM tells me to "Kindly provide your statement from the12th, for a manual verification.' I do so, then im told 'Kindly note that the code is on the statement of the bank account you are trying to verify."

I still cannot find the code, i reply and LungaM now tells me 'The statement you provided is for the old bank account and not the new one. The code is on the statement of the new bank account.'

i reply that i don't have an old or new account, i just have MY account. Lunga M replies with two bank accounts, one is verified and the other account belongs to who knows, cause it isn't mine.

Once i point this out, im told 'The other account has been removed and your account is verified.'

Yay!

next challenge is actually porting your number. I receive my new SIM card late on Friday and attempt to port it on Saturday - BIG MISTAKE.

i follow the steps on the setup.airmobile site and get stuck on step two, which is receiving an OTP from MTN. I wait for about an hour and and don't receive the OTP, so i contact support on whatsapp. Jackson R responds and immediately tells me to setup APN. I try to tell JacksonR that I'm still waiting for the MTN OTP and cannot add APN at this time.

JacksonR starts to get agitated and admonishes me for not listening to him and that i should stop typing an follow his instructions. we go on and on and on about apn settings and the new sim card and then... JacksonR tells me that i have to wait until Monday. i ask why and he tells me he only just found out that number porting only happens during week days. what a waste of time further frustration for over an hour to get no where.

so now I sit with no mobile connection until afrihost wakes up on monday and starts porting numbers.

who knows what will happen on Monday. It is very clear in the setup instructions that you must not insert the new sim until the porting steps have been verified or your new sim will be issued with a new number. On JacksonR's instructions i inserted the new sim and suspect that i have a new number.

What a horrible and frustrating process this has been. I have never experienced such poor service from any SA company and I honestly do not know how afrihost is voted as SA's best ISP!
