Online mobile device order – Afrihost & MobileinAfrica – Worse experience ever!!!!

So let me give some background on my utter frustration…..

On Tuesday, 01/08/2017, I had purchased a mobile device through Afrihost. Wednesday morning I had received a notification that payment was received and that an order was placed for the device. Thursday goes by and as per Afrihost one can track the device status through Afrihost Client Zone which as per myself is not true as up till this very day 07/08/2017 the status of my order has been “Order placed”. Now because it has been this was since the day I ordered I decided to follow up with Afrihost as like all online order I was certain there should be a way one could ones package. I call into Afrihost to follow up and am told the matter has been escalated and is marked as urgent and that someone from the courier company will contact me.

Let Thursday go by and Friday morning I decide to follow up again as I had not had any call like I was advised. I call into Afrihost and speak to a Team Leader at the call centre and am advised that the Team Leader will follow up with Mobile in Africa and he will provide some feedback in 1 hour. A hour goes by and again I have to call in to follow up with Afrihost. I am then told that the courier company again will call give me a call by no later than 3pm on Friday 04/08/2017.

So whilst getting fruster with Afrihost as no one could tell me where the package was I go back to Afrihost’s site and read what was advised when advertising the mobile devices and see that they state “Please Note: Stock of smart devices is not kept at Afrihost. Once you place your order and payment is received, we notify MIA (Mobile In Africa) to initiate the delivery. Your smart device will be delivered via MIA’s couriers to your door.” Based on then decided to mail ********** as the process is to mail them for any “Contact Mi Support for Device Related Queries”. I mail the address given and am now asked to provide a “Mia order number” to track my order and as stated previously the only number you receive is an order number.

Friday again goes by and not a single call is received from the courier which was promised on 2 occasions by Afrihost! Monday I decide to do a follow up with Mobile in Africa. Now I am being told that my order was received late on Friday from Afrihost however the package is still sitting with them waiting for collection from the courier company and this is Monday at 4pm in the afternoon and am now told that I will receive my package/device by Wednesday 09/08/2017. However now I feel that I am being **** to as Wednesday is a SA public holiday.

I can honestly say that I will never recommend anyone to order a mobile device via this method as its extremely frustrating as no one can advise one where the device is nor how the device can be tracked. The only thing I am advised is that I will receive a waybill number once the device is handed to the couriers which has been since Thursday. I have even attempted to ask for a refund as I know if I had ordered the device via another online method it would have been in my hand right now J but I was told I must wait for the device to return to Afrihost warehouse for a refund however they take your money ASAP!!! Funny right!

Additionally this is what is advertised on Afrihost’s website

You will get your order within 5 working days* but we will go out of our way to make sure that it is quicker as it depends on your address area.
