Nothing is ever free! Not even cancellation :-(

Ok so a long story very shortley.

I have moved over to Afihost a couple of months ago.

At 1st everytime the electricity goes off and comes back on, my internet wont reconnect sometimes for days. I have tried many times to have this issue resolved until one day I had enough and installed a ups that would prevent it from disconnecting:-)

Well then one day I got an email from my former service provider with a reduced rate for fibre and I decided to move back to them.

Well I submitted a cancellation request to Afrihost and then I was confronted witb this popup of 1 months free service in an attempt to change my mind. Ja right anyone ever clicked on that option and got a free month service?

Well I didn't get the promised free month and my monthly deduction happend as smoothly as all the months before. :-(

Ok so I was looking forward to finally getting rid of Afrihost and all the drama I had with them up to this point. There was a element of excitement almost like buying a new pair of shoes.

Great then end of the month comes and guess what?

I bet you cant :-)

In my inbox was a Afrihost account of R999 :-$

Yup thats right. More than R300 more than my usual account.

I opened the account and low and behold it was a account for canceling the fibre service. #¥#(;%₩@×

Well like any respectable idiot I thought they made a mistake because my line went off promptly at midnight on the 31st.

Maybe they were suppose to disconnect the end of September I thought. Let me contact them and show them the error of their ways. Surely there must be a mistake. Besides R999 is much more than I use to pay. So if they added the cancellation fees on what I normally pay it might add up to this amount I thought.

Haha how gullible can I be?

I was greeted by a very pleasant Mrs F on whatsapp. Who informed me that this was the amount that I owed for canceling the fibre service. And there is absolutely nothing I can do to change it as I cancelled before a term of 6 months.

Well to be honest I really dont like reading all the fine print on the terms and conditions generally and this is one of those times it came back to bit me in the butt.

I just thought I'd share this story with everyone and anyone that consider canceling their service before 6 months witb Afrihost.

I suppose if it wasnt for sucker's like me they wouldn't make money for bonuses.

I wish you a Merry Christmas in advance
