My Nightmare Experience with Afrihost

I had fibre installed via Vumatel with Afrihost as my ISP. The installation was started but never completed.

I called Afrihost to log the incomplete installation and was promised it would be sorted out later that day.

After 48 hours nothing had happened and so I contacted Afrihost again. The support agent apologised and promised the matter would be escalated and attended to with urgency. Another day passed and still nothing was done about the situation. I eventually resorted to calling Vumatel directly and they told me that Afrihost had cancelled my order, which was the reason the installation being incomplete.

Furthermore, Afrihost had deducted an additoinal R348 from account as a pro-rate rate for the remained of the month for the Fibre packaged I had signed up for, despite the line never being active at all.

I called Afrihost yet again and was told they would issue a new order. Fast forward a whole week and many more hours on the phone, the issue was still not resolved. This cost me many wasted hours talking to 20+ consultants, almost R1000 of cellular data to conduct business and a lot of frustration.

After a whole week Vumatel told me there was still no open order from Afrihost. By now I was in disbelief of how inept Afrihost had been. In frustration I told Afrihost to cancel my service with them and to refund me for the incomplete installation (which I had paid R1800 for).

Instead of refunding me they added a credit note to my account, and had the audacity to charge me for a router which I had not used. This is against the Consumer Protection Act, 2008: No. 68 of 2008.

I called their accounts department to sort out the issue and agent told me he would look into the matter and call me back. It's been 48 hours since that phone call and I still haven't heard back from Afrihost.

This is honestly the worst service I've ever experienced from any company. Not to mention they have ****** my money for goods and services that were never delivered.

Whatever you do, avoid Afrihost at all costs.
