MTN sim cards deactivated, poor customer service thereafter

I had six prepaid MTN sim cards registred with Afrihost for mobile data. All 6 have been deactivated by MTN due to "lack of use". I am not an MTN user; the only reason I have MTN sim cards is because Afrihost uses their network for mobile data. I therefore do not know what MTN's deactivation policies are. Apparently one needs to load airtime or make a call every 90 days from the sim card. I say apparently because neither Afrihost or MTN can confirm exactly what must be done to keep the sim active.

If you are using MTN's network for mobile data then you should advise your customers of exactly what should be done to keep their sim cards active. Instead, I was told that if Afrihost activates the sim on their side then the sim remains active and does not need airtime to be loaded every 90 days. However, Afrihost has the option to use your own sim card when registering. I feel like Afrihost should have at least advised me that the sim cards would be deactivated if airtime was not loaded as I thought that Afrihost loading data on the sim cards would suffice. And please do not tell me this is hidden in the fine print somewhere; it should be a bold notification as soon as you register.

Nevertheless, I decided to get another sim card so that Afrihost could move the data over from the deactivated sim cards to the new one. I called the call centre yesterday to find out how I should go about doing this. The agent could not register the sim card and said she would call me back; nobody has done so.

I lost +-450mb of data last month because of this and I have paid for data now that I cannot use; Afrihost has already debited my account for this data. Yet the number with the data does not even appear on clientzone anymore!

Expected more from Afrihost after the positive recommendations.
