Misleading Information

So Vumatel have installed Fibre in my area and when I search for fibre on Afrihosts website they say "congratulations there is fibre in your area"

I hit the pre-order button, hoping that it meant what I thought it was "order and wait for installation", but apparently this means that you will need to wait for internet to go "LIVE" in your area... First it told me 2 weeks and then a consultant told me (online general enquiries) that it's not live in my area so I had to contact Vumatel..

I contacted Vumatel and they say that this may even take as long as a month or two to go live... Take note of the word "MAY"..

I am highly disappointed in Afrihost.. I've always heard not good, but GREAT stories from people around me and stories and then having your own nightmare with them. Not to mention that when I tried to call to confirm this when I tried to switch over I sit with this nonsense... Nothing more disappointing than wanting to be with a provider just based on good information and then sitting with this :(.

The biggest issue is that I cancelled my Telkom ADSL line, so now I'm sitting with no internet and I don't even have some sort of temporary replacement of any sort.. My studies are taking a knock and this is affecting my work as well. Could Afrihost not have a "is there fibre in my area" map and thereafter go to a "is fibre LIVE in my area" map... That way the public wouldn't be mislead into believing they can get fibre.

I got an email from them now saying that they will not provide me even just an ADSL line at a reduced rate because they "always advise our clients not to cancel data they might have until installations are done" firstly... I was not advised this because I did an online order secondly... I was not informed about "going live" vs installation, sorry, I insist that this is told to ALL clients before purchasing a fibre line because as I mentioned.. this is misleading! I wouldn't mind waiting 2 weeks for my installation but waiting a month or two for it to go live and then another 2 weeks for installation is just ridiculous.

The person that emailed me and called me was very well spoken and tried to help to the best of her ability, so I can't moan about the person I spoke to but I am really not happy with the current solution.

Anyways, I'm hoping Afrihost can reply to this and provide me with a solution because I currently don’t have internet and my studies are taking a huge knock.
