Long time customer leaving Afrihost due to shocking customer service and incompetence

I recently moved house. As a long standing customer of Afrihost's ADSL line, I decided to give their Fibre services a try in my new apartment. The apartment I moved into had existing Fibre infrastructure and it should have been as easy as getting a router from Afrihost and getting connected. I was assured this would not take more than a week (at the most) so I app**** for the new Fibre through Afrihost. That was middle of September. Today is the 26th October and I am STILL not connected.

I received my router from Afrihost and received an email on the 2nd October indicating I was connected to the internet. Obviously realizing I wasn't able to connect, I set about trying to contact Afrihost. My emails went unanswered, the SMS Help feature resulted in stoney silence, client zone messages disappear into a black hole, Facebook/Social media reps just send empty promises to placate me and when I do call the call center - it takes 45minutes - an hour each time to get through to a consultant. Once I did finally speak to someone, I had to start from scratch in explaining my story (clearly the Innovative IT company has not yet invested in a CRM system) and each time I was met with little to no support or answers, other than instructions to contact Vuma or Fibrehoods - who then refer me to Britelink or back to Afrihost. One or two consultants who started off as helpful then just went radio silence on me after they were unable to provide me with answers or had shifted the blame to Vuma or Britelink. When I did follow up with Britelink and Vuma (which is not my responsibility as a paying customer) they did all the checks and balances on their side and once again passed the buck onwards or back to Fibrehoods. I have wasted hundreds of Rands of my airtime this past month and countless hours on hold and talking to call centre representatives and yet I am still no closer to an answer. Why, in this day and age, is it so difficult to get connected to the internet? Why, when a company markets themselves as a market leader in the High speed internet industry are their customers not able to actually access their products? Why, if Afrihost does not want my business or are not able to figure out what the technical issues are, can they not just tell me directly, rather than pushing me from pillar to post and making me beg them and their partners for service. Due to the shocking customer service and utter incompetence, I would strongly recommend against working with Afrihost. I have decided that if I am not connected by COB tomorrow I will terminate my links with Afrihost. I will be sad to leave after almost 4 years as a loyal customer, but I look forward to a new relationship with an ISP that actually cares about their customers.
