Lack of support and feedback from Afrihost and Vumatel
Be very careful to have things checked out at your new residence before moving as you will receive no support from Afrihost or Vumatel without having to follow up yourself step by step. I worked in IT and was happy with my old address until I had to move. I could understand the first month as it was short notice, but it was halfway through the 2nd month that they informed me the previous tenants never terminated my line. They did apologise for the lack of feedback and informed me how to get Vumatel to release the line, and a few days later I received notification that my line was active. I went home to discover there was no connection. I contacted them to have Vumatel come out only to learn that the connection from the house to the street was physically never connected. Vumatel does not have direct contact details and informs you to go to your ISP, but Afrihost just refers me back to Vumatel. Surely Vumatel knew the line was not physically connected? Surely the line was tested before informing me the line was active? To add insult to injury my next invoice (for the internet that isn't connected) was R 100 more. No messages were sent to inform me why this was (I can understand annual increases, but still). So be careful when moving address before you get caught in the same situation.
