Klerksdorp Fixed Wireless a sham

I wanted to warn anyone in Klerksdorp about Afrihost, because Afrihost is advertising a product which is actually not on offer at the moment (fixed wireless). I've been told that Cell C is "working on the issue", but it's been a month with no end in sight. I paid R850 for 200GB for January, and only used 5GB. This is COMPLETELY unacceptable.

I tried to contact Accounts yesterday to cancel or suspend the "service" until it actually works, but waited on the phone for 15 minutes - during the workday - with no answer even though I had been told that THEY would contact ME.

I absolutely refuse to pay R999 to cancel a product I haven't used because of Afrihost's ineptitude, and their continued adverti*****t of a service they are well aware does not work. Also, the router is my own so I see no reason for the R999.

Since I first contacted Afrihost with this issue on 13 January I have been given the run around, despite Afrihost knowing that Cell C has been having issues in the Klerksdorp area. Again, almost a month of complaining to a multitude of people and just being told it would be "escalated" to the next person.

I have given Afrihost ample opportunity to either rectify the problem or offer me the option of suspending payments until such time that connectivity becomes available, but have gotten nothing but platitudes and lies.

My next step is speaking to the manager, and then going to ICASA. I will be stopping my debit order at the earliest opportunity, and will give my router to a friend in Johannesburg so that at least SOMEONE can use the 200GB I have paid for. If you see that "data is being moved", it's not because Afrihost has miraculously fixed the problem.

It is a rare occurrence to have service SO useless, but congratulations to Afrihost for managing it.
