Internal communication non-existent and no feedback or support
I understand that Afrihost is using external contractors in shipping their Advanced LTE routers, but why is this my problem?
They need to communicate with their subcontractors and have them do the job they are contracted to do, and not ask Afrihost customers to call after Digital Planet, who further subcontracts to Ram Couriers. This should not be my problem.
When I placed the order I made a comment asking them to come after work hours. This was not communicated down the line. I got an sms that the delivery was happening between 9 am and 5 pm and I needed to be there to RICA. So I dropped everything to be home for the internet we desperately needed, and missed a call from the call centre by 3 minutes (the courier didn't try to show up himself). Mr Delivery was able to deliver to my door twice that weekend, so sorry Ram Couriers, that's not great service. I called back immediately and told them I was available, but this somehow was lost in translation. I was talking to Digital Planet, who wasn't talking directly to Ram Couriers, the actual driver. I checked my delivery status, which was "out for delivery", and called everyone from Digital Planet to Ram Couriers to get hold of the driver and organize redelivery. I think I called 6 times to different call centres until they closed for the day. I spent R50+ Afrihost airtime to try to get this Afrihost product. I was in tears having tried everything I could, missing half a day at work and not able to do anything. I wrote an email to support, and got no response. Ticket ID PVQ- ********** 3.
Next day comes the "you weren't available at the address, call Afrihost to prevent your order being canceled" SMS. OK, so Afrihost is the one I should be talking to, calling the shots. So I called Afrihost. Again I'm told to call other people. I asked them to check my delivery status and update my address to my work address. I can't get through to the Digital Planet people. I call Ram Couriers and ask them to change my address. Then I go to work and get in trouble with my new boss for missing half a day at work in my first week at a new job in a new city in a new apartment with no internet...and still no response from Afrihost support.
And so I check up with Ram Couriers to find that the change of address doesn't stick because they are waiting for Digital Planet, who I can't get through to because all the Afrihost customers have been shunted to them and are calling them personally. I just realized, this shouldn't be my problem. Afrihost, I ordered this from you. This is your supply line, part of your customer experience and service. Digital Planet isn't getting my money, I'm not their customer, you are. If you talk to them they'll listen. However, you are getting my money. I am your customer. I'm trying to talk to you. Please listen.
