Installed but not activated – Afrihost and Openserve passing the blame

Openserve installed my ONT on Friday (06/03/2026) morning and then left without ensuring that the fibre line was actually provisioned or working.

Since then I’ve had to contact Afrihost multiple times on WhatsApp, and every single time I’m told the same generic response: “activation takes 24–72 hours” or “we will escalate to Openserve.” Days later the line is still not active and nobody seems able to give a clear answer or take ownership of the problem.

To make things worse, the router Afrihost sent wasn’t even configured. I had to manually log into the router and configure the PPPoE settings myself just to try to get the connection working.

Eventually, one of the support agents admitted that the Openserve technician likely never logged the provisioning request after the installation. If that’s the case, the technician left without completing the job and nobody from Afrihost or Openserve bothered to verify it.

So now I’m stuck in the middle of two companies pointing fingers while I’m forced to buy expensive mobile data just to be able to do my job.

This level of service is completely unacceptable. If installation is completed, the line should be activated immediately or at least properly followed up. Right now, it feels like once the installation is done, the customer is forgotten.

Afrihost and Openserve need to sort out their coordination, as this experience has been extremely frustrating.

Please can someone from Afrihost escalate this urgently with Openserve and provide actual feedback instead of generic 24–72 hour responses.
