I'm not sure why Afrihost is the best ISP in South Africa

I am genuinely uncertain how or why this ISP has been recognized as “Best ISP of the Year.” My experience throughout October has been extremely disappointing, marked by consistently poor LTE speeds. Despite paying a premium for a Pure LTE package, the service quality, connection reliability, and customer support have all fallen far below expectations.

Over the past month, I have wasted significant time, money, and patience attempting to resolve these ongoing issues. Each time I contact support, I receive a different explanation. I am repeatedly assured that the matter has been escalated and that I will receive updates, yet no progress ever follows. When I requested a refund due to the company’s inability to deliver the service I am paying for, my request was dismissed. It seems that once you have signed up, you simply become another account number in the system.

In an attempt to resolve the issue, I even decided to upgrade to fibre. Unfortunately, it has now been three weeks since placing the order, and I am still waiting for installation. If Afrihost cannot efficiently manage a service upgrade, how can I be confident in their ability to provide a reliable fibre connection once it’s active?

To anyone considering Afrihost, particularly their LTE services. I strongly urge you to do thorough research before committing. In my experience, they fail to deliver on their advertised performance and show little urgency or accountability in addressing customer concerns.

I wasted my time, money, airtime and patience on trying to get this resolved. Every time I phone its a different story, I'm constantly told that the problem has been escalated and they would update me on the progress , but no nothing happens. I even asked if I could get refund on my because they are unable to deliver a product that I'm paying for (no luck there). Once you signed up, you are just another number.

I even though, wait maybe I should upgrade to fibre which I did, I'm still waiting for the installation and it has now been 3 weeks. If you can even help with that, how must I trust that you will deliver on a good and reliable fibre package?

For those thinking of using Afrihost, please do your homework and think twice before buying an LTE package. They do not deliver on what they are selling and they do absolutely nothing to fix the problem either.
