Five Months and Counting, don't hold your breath for fiber from Afrihost.
Background: I have been a loyal customer to Afrihost, my ADSL, mobile, everything was provided by them. Their customer service used to be good and reply emails late in the evening.
What had happened: I app**** for fiber services 5 months ago ****h April), I stay in Illovo, and the area was covered by fiber infrastructure already.
What went wrong: No communication was received untill June, I logged my first query on 28th June, they came back saying they will investigate.11th July, second query was logged, after a few back and forth emails, they finally admit there was an issue between the supplier and the body corporate. I managed to talk to the body corporate, only to find out that they haven't received anything from Openserve. I followed up againon 4th Aug, nothing positive.
What's happening now: I logged a query on 2nd Oct, they only came back on 8th saying there will be an update on Tuesday (10th). No response on 10th. I wrote them again on 16th Oct, feedback came in on 17th saying there will be an update on 18th.
Today is the 20th Oct, I have not got anything from Afrihost.
What do I think of this: It is probably not Afrihost's fault as they are relying on Openserve, however, Afrihost must realise that the world is only seeing Afrihost's brand when they apply for fiber, and when they complain, they will only blame Afrihost as well. So as much as they can blame on other people, I suggest Afrihost should face the music and either fix the problem or withdraw from Fiber because it's proven that they are not ready.
Advice to you. Mobile and ADSL of Afrihost is still quality, but if you want to apply for Fiber, I would recommend you think twice, or even third time.
A very disappointed client.
