Fibre Promotion not honoured
I signed up for their fibre promotion on 9 August. This was 5 days after their promotion offering free installation, ended, but I decided to click on the link provided in the promo email and see if the offer was still available. Afrihost often extend their special offers, so I was hopeful. I was thrilled to see that the promotion was still available and the link took me to a landing page. I read through all the info and decided to sign up. A few weeks later, the fibre was installed and the router delivered. Imagine my surprise when my account was debited to the tune of R2850 for Installation. The reason given: I signed up after the promotion ended. When I consulted a legal expert on the matter, it was pretty clear: The promotion should not have been available on the website, nor should it have allowed the sign up process to occur. A message stating that the promotion was no longer available should have been shown, with a link to the normal offer. Their accounts department have informed me that I will not be refunded.
My 10 Mbps line is actually less than half of that and, when I raised that as a concern, I was told that the small print clearly states that the speed is UP TO 10 Mbps. Very sneaky.
I will be looking for an alternative service provider.
