False Coverage, No Connection, No Support – Unacceptable"
Approximately three months ago, I visited the Afrihost website to check for coverage in my area. The website indicated that coverage was available, which led me to sign up for a subscription at around R650 per month.
After several days without any feedback, I contacted Afrihost and was informed that there had been an error with the order. I was advised to collect a router from your offices, which, once plugged in, would provide service. However, upon installation, the router did not connect to the network. I followed up again and was told that an Openserve representative would be sent to inspect the property. I was also informed that no refund could be processed until the service was active — despite the fact that I have not had any service for over three months.
When the Openserve technician eventually arrived, he confirmed that there is no fibre connection to the apartment and that the previous coverage app**** to a standalone house, not the individual units. That was over two months ago. Since then, I’ve received calls from various people, but no progress has been made, and no refund has been issued.
Afrihost continues to defer responsibility to Openserve, but I do not pay Openserve — I pay Afrihost. It is unacceptable that I have been billed for a service I have never received, and that no one has taken ownership of resolving this issue.
If you choose to work with third-party providers, it is your responsibility to hold them accountable. I have lost all confidence in Afrihost’s service and support. I am now requesting immediate resolution and a full refund for the months I have been charged without receiving any service.
This situation has severely impacted my day-to-day life. Reliable internet is not a luxury — it’s a necessity. I’ve been left without connectivity for a quarter of the year, and I’m fed up. I’ve tried to be patient, but I’m now extremely frustrated and disappointed with the lack of accountability and support.
Please treat this matter with the urgency and seriousness it deserves.
