Early cancellation fee after a years subscription

Cancelled RAIN SIM after a year and ordered a CELL C SIM. I was sent a RAIN SIM and billed for the month so I used it After the month was up I cancelled the RAIN SIM as I wanted the Cell C SIM Afrihost billed me R999 early cancellation fee. Does this sound ethical to you?
