Do not support Afrihost! *********** inefficient staff - do not refund!

In November and December 2020 I called Afrihost several times to make enquiries on the UPS they have advertised to find out how it works and if it is definitely going to connect during load shedding on my fibre line. The various agents I spoke to all assured me that the UPS was indeed the correct device and all of them, including the agent I sat in front of when I collected the device from Afrihost, told me how to connect it to the fibre ONT box.

To my surprise, every time we attempted to connect the UPS to the ONT, we immediately experienced a LOS signal which means that no connectivity was running into our box. Upon several complaints to Afrihost, one agent actually investigated why this was so and he advised that THE UPS IS NOT COMPATIBLE WITH A FIBRE LINE and that it only works with all other wifi such as LTE, etc.

I was infuriated as I had made several calls as well as was advised that this device WILL work by the agent in front of me at Afrihost and yet none of them had a clue that it does not work with fibre. All of them totally useless and *********** at their jobs!

I then requested Afrihost to collect the device and to refund me for the UPS. They agreed and arranged collection, I was advised that once the device was delivered to Afrihost then only will the refund go through. I agreed. The UPS was delivered to Afrihost 1 week ago, 22 January 2021 and to date, 29 January 2021 Afrihost has not honoured my refund. Now they moved the goal post to "the device needs to be in the warehouse in order for us to refund you". It is a week since this device was delivered and no one seems to know where it is.

If the device was misplaced then it seems I will never get my refund until it is finally found. To my understanding, we are dealing with incomprehensible people who do not keep to their word and neither do they understand what work they are meant to do. Giving simple advice is even so difficult to do!

I will be moving my fibre line from this low-grade company!
