Dissapointed in Afrihost

I am extremely disappointed with the way my account has been handled. Due to financial constraints, I downgraded my services to an email-only account and cancelled my website and domain because I could no longer afford the additional costs. Despite taking these steps specifically to reduce my monthly expenses, I was subsequently billed approximately R700, including two charges of around R300 each and an additional charge of R94. One of these charges was for a domain renewal. If a customer cancels a domain because they cannot afford to continue the service, how is it acceptable to bill them for a renewal afterwards? What concerns me most is the lack of consideration for customers who budget carefully and pay according to their means. I was prepared to pay my normal monthly installment when due. Instead, I was presented with unexpected charges that I simply cannot afford. This raises serious questions about billing practices, cancellation processes, and communication with customers. It is unreasonable to expect a customer to suddenly find hundreds of rands for charges that were neither anticipated nor budgeted for. I request an immediate review of these charges, a clear explanation of why I was billed after cancelling services, and the reversal of any incorrect fees. At present, this experience leaves me questioning whether customer interests are being considered at all. I hope the company will resolve this matter promptly and demonstrate that it values fair and transparent business practices.

Due to financial constraints, I downgraded my services and cancelled my website because I could no longer afford the associated costs. The entire purpose of the cancellation was to prevent further charges for services I no longer wanted or needed.Despite this, I have now received invoices totaling over R700, including a R300 charge for a domain renewal. My issue is simple: if a customer cancels a website and no longer wishes to retain the domain, why is a domain renewal invoice still being generated?I should not have to fight to stop being billed for services that I have already cancelled. Customers make cancellation requests for a reason, and it is unreasonable to continue invoicing them for renewals after they have taken steps to terminate those services.I was prepared to pay for the email service I retained. What I was not prepared for was receiving unexpected invoices for services that I believed had been cancelled.I request that Afrihost urgently investigate this matter, explain why a domain renewal invoice was issued after cancellation, and reverse any charges relating to services that should no longer be active. At a time when many South Africans are under financial pressure, it is unacceptable to be surprised with renewal charges for services that have already been cancelled.I expect a prompt response and resolution.
