Delayed installation due to bad service
I app**** for a Fibre line via Afrihost the 25th of September. I have had an account with Afrihost since 2013. Due to their great customer service back then I did not hesitate to apply for a Fibre package with them. My free router was delivered 2 days after my application and I was very grateful for their speedy service and excited to get my Fibre line connected. Vumatel tried phoning me the 3rd of October to schedule an installation appointment. I missed their calls and tried to phone the number back, but it was a number you could not get through to. No message was left from their side. I then received an email, which landed in my spam folder for over a week stating that my installation appointment is scheduled for the 1st of November. Immediately I phoned the number on the email message and tried to change my installation date, but the consultant said 1 November was the earliest date they had available. A few days past and I then decided to contact Afrihost regarding my situation. They could only advise me to phone Vumatel to try reschedule a sooner date. Then the calling started…. Vumatel then said they will try reschedule the appointment on my behalf. Another few days past and I phoned again. Then I was told that someone will contact me. Eventually Nano Fibre phoned me to arrange an installation for 21 October. I just thought it was all coming to an end when I was told my address is incorrect! It first needed to be changed before a new installation date can be scheduled. I then emailed Afrihost and the address details were resolved and Nano Fibre could still arrange my installation for 21 October. The installation took place Monday morning and I was told by the installer to phone Afrihost once I receive a “VT” number from them via Whats App. I was also informed that Afrihost will then guide me through the setup of my new router installation which at that stage was still sealed in the box. When I received my VT number from Nano Fibre and phoned Afrihost to connect my line I was informed that the VT number belonged to a street camera in my road and not to the Vumatel Fibre box that was installed. Due to this my fibre line cannot be connected and they will request for a new VT number from Nano Fibre. Since 21 October I have phoned Vumatel numerous times to get the new VT number for me from Nano Fibre. On Thursday 24 October I was really getting frustrated with this situation and phoned Nano Fibre myself to try obtain the correct VT number. Again I was told they will phone me back and I am still waiting. I have spent so much money on airtime making numerous calls and being put on hold with every call. I’m also tired of explaining the whole story over and over again to a new consultant every time I call them. I have wasted so much of my time trying to resolve this issue with all 3 companies and no one seems able to assist me. Don’t be fooled when they advertise that Fibre will be installed in 1 week – this is false advertising and the incompetence of all 3 companies to resolve this issue is hugely disappointing. I would not recommend you use any of these 3 companies to install your Fibre!
