Delayed AFRIHOST AND OCTOTEL!
I’ved opened an account with Afrihost the 25th July 2026. They wanted my address to check if I have fibre in my area and they told me I have both fibre and LTE , they then told me I had to cancel my rain account then I may proceed with them. I then cancelled my rain. On 11th August I made a payment of R248 for the router and I was told that octotel will contact me for installation of the fibre within 5 working days. On the 14th August I received a message regarding the delivery of the router but no router was delivered. I’ve contacted them every single day asking when the router will be delivered and they’ll tell me the next day but no delivery was made.
On 19th August the router was delivered. On the same day I asked them when will the installation be installed and I was told I can install it myself. They then told me to open the parcel and connect it myself (I have proof of them telling me to open it), when it got to a point where I had to plug the router in they asked me to plug it into the ONT(Fiber box), I then told them I do not have a ONT(Fibre box) and they asked if octotel haven’t made any contact with me and I rep**** with a clear no. They then told me to put the router back into the packaging and I did that immediately.
They then told me I have to wait for octotel to get in touch with me and the installation will take place within 10 weeks from the 2026-08-10. I couldn’t wait that long because I’ve already cancelled my rain to be with them.
The 30th August I contacted them again regarding the FIBRE BOX , they told me the exact same thing about 10 weeks. I then asked them to cancel it and the consultant I spoke to explained to me that if you cancel within the first 6 months you’ll have to pay a penalty fee BUT SEE THAT I HAVEN'T USED IT YET, THEY'LL HAVE TO REFUND ME (the R248 payment I have made).
Today 7th September 2026, I contacted them again and I have cancelled the router. The consultant I spoke to told me her name but I couldn’t hear her clearly and I’ve asked her to repeat herself but then she told me never mind and I should continue talking. The consultant told me I have to pay another R250 for them to fetch the router and if the package has not been opened yet and they’ll have to check if there are any faults with the router , if there are faults I’ll have to pay them a R999.
I don’t think this is fair towards me because I had to cancel my rain WiFi before I could proceed with them and then I still had to still wait so long and this happened .
Why should I pay again and I haven’t used or the router wasn’t even active yet , IM SO FED UP REALLY.
I WANT MY MONEY BACK (ASAP)
