Afrihost recently offered me free Fibre installation via Octotel in June of 2017. Two weeks later during early July I received an update to say that fibre was, in fact, not ready to be delivered to my road. I therefore was constantly checking Octotels website to find out when I would go live. Later when no further updates came in August, I emailed Afrihost and Octotel, to only find out that no order had come from Afrihost for my fibre installation. Before August was over a second email with Octotel revealed that the order still had not been submitted. I therefore sent the request to both parties. No updates came until around November where they informed me they would be doing preinstallation. They did so in the second week. Then I was told by a local Octotel employee as well as the contact for my installation that it generally took 3 to 5 weeks before activation. December came and by mid-December I left the country for thirty days. I cancelled my ADSL (that had become erratic going on and off, and giving me 200kb/s or less even though I had an 8 megabit line). When I returned to Cape Town in January, a day after emailing Octotel to say I was going to look elsewhere for service if there was no activation by the end of the following week, still no progress had been made. I then emailed them this morning, the 23rd of January, to say it had been a week since my last email and I had received no reply. My response was as follows (they spelt my name wrong). "Hi Suyahl.
Unfortunately we will not be able to get you connected by the end of the week.
Kind regards, Rue"
For more context, these were the two prior emails. "On Tue, Jan 23, 2018 at 11:11 am, ********** Abu Adam Schroeder wrote:
Hi Rue
It has been a week since my last email and I have received no further communication. I will be looking at Telkom for fibre unless I can receive a response.
Kind regards, Suhayl Schroeder

I have been waiting and exchanging emails since July to try and get my fibre setup. When preinstallation took place in November I was promised it would not take longer than 3 weeks. I have cancelled my ADSL with Afrihost thinking that in the this past month I have been away a good amount progress would have come from Octotel. I return to Cape Town tomorrow without any Internet available to me for my work and studies. I am at a disadvantage with no clear goal in sight as to when anything will be done. If it is not ready by the end of next week. Please cancel my order as I will be looking elsewhere for a reliable and efficient service provider.
Kind regards Suhayl Schroeder (1B Avenue De Mist) " How blatantly rude can you be at a justified complaint? Throughout my entire experience I received no updates, rather I had to email them constantly, and apparently there is no professionalism involved.
