Afrihost web hosting that didn't work properly, their support unhelpful, and now refusing refund

Around 3rd week July I signed up for Afrihost web hosting.

Nothing worked properly for days on end, I couldn't log into CPanel, there were execution issues relating to PHP, and I went back and forth with technical support for days in frustration they gave unhelpful answers.

After several days I gave up in frustration and signed up at a different hosting provider, where everything has worked properly.

Now I am asking for a full refund but the support is either misreading my answers or telling me I need to cancel "in advance" - so I now I must pay for several months for something that never worked properly and I gave up on it!?

No, that's nonsense, I want a full refund.
