Afrihost support system has gone for the dogs.

I used to enjoy Afrihost and the quick reponse to issues, but it seems that this is no longer the case.

In the beginning of January I've app**** for the 10Mbps Fribre option and I am still waiting for this service.

On Monday,27th February, the Openserve installer finally completed the installation and confirmed that the Fibre has been activated and I should now talk to Afrihost to activate the service on their side. I called their support centre but after waiting for a considerable period of time, opted to send an e-mail, to which I received an automated acknowledgement, promising a call from their consultants. THIS DID NOT HAPPEN.

The next day I called again and after holding on for about 10 minutes got patched through to a consultant.

Not only did the consultant provide me with the wrong information, he treated me like a fool, when I repeatedly told him I cannot connect to the GPON Terminal Management system, even though I was on the correct IP Network as the GPON Terminal!!! The consultant also assumed I knew nothing about networks and subnets and that I am using Internet Explorer, while I only use Linux or OS 10 from Mac.

R60 rand of airtime later I still had no further resolution, and decided to troubleshoot the Huawei GPON Terminal directly with NMAP, which proofed my system was correctly connected and that the GPON terminal was not working correctly as I could not TELNET or SSH into the device. NMAP also reported an area.

Thus far, Telkom and Openserve has not replaced the device, nor did Afrihost do anything to connect my Fibre.

A further support request to Afrihost on 1 March, has also remained completely unanswered.

I am certainly very dissapointed in the poor performance from Afrihost, who is the 3rd party provider for Telkom.
