Afrihost - Poor service 2025

I have been dealing with Afrihost since 2020 with little to no major issue besides the occasional SEACOM or Eskom related interference, both understandable and excusable as they fall outside of AH control. As of May 21 2025 my connection has been bouncing from plainly unusable (as in 3000+ ms ping with 0.30mb/s download speed) to being able to open gmail or this review web page with weekends being somewhat more stable...sometimes.

I have made multiple inquiries to Afrihost regarding this poor service and supplemented each correspondence with multiple speed tests as prescribed to illustrate the issue. I have also asked the same question repeatedly, "is the poor service with my LTE connection coming from MTN or Afrihost?". I have had no response to this question and also no feedback surrounding the speed and trace route tests i have supp****, the most recent correspondence received June 8th simply stated the LTE department refreshed the SIM and instructed to "monitor the connection". In my response I suggested that if the LTE department allegedly took any remedial action regarding the SIM would it not then be logical to replace the SIM to test whether the problem lay with a faulty SIM (outdated protocol) or simply the ISP being the problem?...No response after a week now.

Going through the reviews many others have attested to in the past two months, Afrihost used to be a reliable and accountable ISP but it seems to have fallen into the same line as most other big brands boasting quality and excellence while displaying incompetence and general disinterest or accountability in delivering on a paid for service.

As other reviews have stated, the "support staff" seem to be trained only in being glorified help desks instructed to stall the customer long enough to pass the 15th of the month so as to enact the cancellation policy whereby the customer can't cancel the "service" without paying additional duties. In addition it is rather odd how engaging with the "support staff" from Afrihost yields no results despite being the "support staff" from Afrihost assigned through the Client Zone Support Request function, while customers are referred on this review site to contact Afrigirl for support...That is the equivalent of taking your car under warranty to the dealer for service and then being advised to get it serviced at WeBuyCars.

In summary, it is made abundantly clear that Afrihost will receive (and demand) payment in full and on time but deliver at best 10% of the promised product if and when it fells like it. My recommendation for others who check Hellopeter and other forums for suitable ISP's in their area would be to limit reviews to the last 4-5 months for the most accurate consensus.

It is good to see 806 positive reviews for Afrihost, it almost suggests that perhaps the problem lies with the other 8614 customers.
