Afrihost - Please wait, then Oeps, we didn't place your order. WHAT????
This is my story of frustration and once again no customer service in this country.
I thought to my self, finally, fibre is coming to my area, yeay! After doing a lot of research, I decided to go with Afrihost. I placed my order online and then, then the wait started. I placed my pre-order and because of that qualified for an amazing special of R495 per month for a 10 mbps pure fibre line. Afterall, this is why after my research I decided to go with Afrihost in the first place.
I was so happy. However it was short lived, the issues started happening one after the other from here.
First I had to confirm my banking details, Afrihost deposits R1 into your bank account to confirm my banking details , after which I had to log in to the ClientZone website, where I placed my pre-order, to capture and confirm the Reference Number as on my bank statement. The reference number reflected on my statement was only 2 charactors and not 6 as it should have been as put out in the process. I couldn't perform the verification step, I sent emails, I tried calling and after about 2 weeks I was able to eventually confirm my banking details. Already upset I thought OK, at least all is in order now, so I started getting excited again.
I started waiting, I was told end of September, beginning of October 2019, I asked for updates about 3 times and was simply told, as per the previous email, Afrihost did not have any update for me as it is now Octotel that needs to contact me and do the installation, I was not given any sort of time frame, simply told to wait and be patient, I asked and was told this at least on 3 separate occasions.
I then waited a whole month, waiting patiently as I was told and then to my surprise I find out my neighbor already has his fibre line and is using it for more than a week now. At this point I was furious.
I was the one that told most of my neighbors in the street about my research on ISPs and my findings and actually advised them to go with Afrihost in the first place.
I am confused, how is this possible? I then sent a whats-app message to Afrihost and was told that no one placed the order. Wait ... what?????
HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE? I was told on numerous occasions my order is in the process. So, what does this mean, I have been waiting for nothing, the clock is reset and I need to start waiting again from the beginning because of Afrihost's incompetency and lack of communication s****s? This is totally unacceptable! I also notice that my early bird premium of R495 is now all of a sudden showing as R595.
I will not accept this, I was one of the first people in the area to sign up on the pre-order and I want my early bird deal as I signed up for. This is totally outrageous and I must now once again wait in line because of someone else's mistake and be expected to pay R100 more each month, time and money wasted.
Not a happy camper. Please fix your process and ensure that I pay my agreed upon premium of R495 per month as promised and advertised. I was really hoping for better service from Afrihost and hoped for a good experience as I have been waiting for my fibre since it was launched. I am in IT and work from home alot writing code and I need fibre in my life.
Please up your customer service and remember that we have been waiting for this service and are excited and in most cases need it in order to do our jobs more efficiently.
