Afrihost is now junk status

Never thought it would come to this. I have been an Afrihost customer for about 8 years now and this is the first time I am actually frustrated.

MTN has had poor coverage since the recent load shedding. This is a common occurrence because every time we have load shedding not only is the MTN tower offline during the blackout but after load shedding is over there are constant connectivity issues.

I get my LTE connection via Afrihost, thus I expect Afrihost to take it up with MTN to get this resolved. Well, 5 days later and we still have no reliable connectivity. What is quite humorous is I am using Vodacom to keep the internet online at the moment off my mobile phone. Hell even during load shedding I can make calls with Vodacom but not MTN.

That is beside the point. Afrihost has moved into a corporate direction ever since they announced the partnership with MTN and when MTN took over a large percentage of their business at one stage. This marked the end of Afrihost and it is visible with the poor service delivery I am getting.

5 days into bad connectivity with multiple support tickets and I am still in the same place. What makes it worse is when support either from Afrihost or MTN ask me stupid questions such as checking the speed of my connection after they "reset" it. So you want me to check speed when I continuously get disconnected? Are you even qualified at your job? If so the certifications are probably bought because this is a sign of gross incompetence. I know that MTN can check signal strength to my LTE router even without contacting me, how do I know this? The benefits of previously working in the industry I guess.

This whole experience has made me consider changing providers. Afrihost has truly gone down the dumps. Might start looking at Open Web.
