Afrihost is King, customer the serf

Afrihost is King, the customer is never right. I got a new LTE month on month account in December 2018 and right away there were problems - the accounts dept left hand doesn't know what the right hand does. My service was soon cut because of a shortfall in payment of around R280.00. It took 3 lonnng phone calls and about 4 days to eventually discover this amount was for another account - one which I had cancelled in 2014 !!! To prevent this incorrect payment from being continually debited to my bank account, i elected to pay the correct amount by EFT, which I did before the end of March and April this year. Nonetheless I was disconnected again this month (May 2019) despite being in credit of R 850.00.I was informed that I must complete a " bank status review form " in order to be reconnected. (I was disconnected at the time so this was not a viable option.) Naturally I was not amused so I asked for a refund - remember I was refused service by Afrihost, despite having made payment already ! An accounts rep. e-mailed me that I will be getting a refund, but that didn't happen. Instead i received an account for a "cancellation fee" of R 999.00. Alright, I was then told that this is their standard conditions and that cancellation within 6 months does attract a fee ! Wow, in my view, this is blatant "constructive dismissal" They terminated my service and AFRIHOST initiated the cancellation of the contract by denying me service, full stop. I would like to alert potential customers as to their strong arm tactics, and recommend they first look elsewhere - unless they don't mind being bul**** and shunted around endlessly. Their slogan should be "Afrihost is king and the customer is never right."
