Afrihost Fibre Outage – 10 Days Down, No Resolution

I have been without fibre since 8 August 2025 and despite multiple calls, emails and escalations to Afrihost, the matter remains unresolved.

Service has been down for 10 consecutive days.

Afrihost failed to reactivate the original fault ticket with Vumatel — instead, a new ticket was opened, forcing me to wait another 72 hours.

I have incurred R1,079.00 in data costs and R500.00 in travel costs due to the outage.

Afrihost has not once provided proactive feedback — all updates had to be chased by me, including contacting Vumatel directly.

This constitutes a breach of contract and a violation of the Consumer Protection Act (Section 54), which requires services to be delivered in a timely and efficient manner.

I demand:

Immediate restoration of service (no further delays or “ticket resets”).

Reimbur*****t of my direct costs.

A clear explanation of how Afrihost will prevent this from recurring.

If this is not resolved within 48 hours, I will escalate to ICASA and the National Consumer Commission, and pursue further remedies.

This is no longer an inconvenience — it is a failure of Afrihost to fulfil its contractual and statutory obligations.
