Afrihost Fibre Nightmare

Jooh these guys. I requested fibre services two weeks ago. The lady said this usually takes 5-7 days, which I thought was a lot but at least I know in advance to prepare. That was on a Wednesday -- two weeks ago.

Monday last week, I decide to call to follow up on the progress, in my mind I am thinking I gave them enough time by now they should be on their way. The man I speak to on the WhatsApp was called Siyabonga K. He says to me my order cannot be placed because they cannot see my address on their system. I am like wondering, what does this even mean they cannot see an address on their system?

I of course checked my address on their system - ensured that I have coverage. Now the man explains that sometimes Vumatel does not list all the units in a complex, so they can see unit 43 just not unit 41.

So I ask him, since I placed the order the previous week Wednesday until the Monday I made the call -- they could not find my address on their system, so they did NOTHING until I called to enquire. He says, no they wrote me an email. They wrote me an email saying they cannot find my address, and then they did NOTHING after that until I called to enquire.

So I ask him, what must happen now. He says, he needs to log a call with Vumatel to add my address on their system. I say -- what is holding them back from doing that, or even doing that last week Wednesday. He says, he needs my ERF plot number. So, I say I do not have that, I stay in an complex and do not know the ERF number. He says, there is nothing he can do without an ERF number. After which he drops the WhatsApp call on me.

So I am sitting here thinking, Afrihost clearly don't want my money but since I had waited so long, maybe lets give them a second chance, maybe it was just one rude and clueless agent -- not the whole Afrihost. I decide to call their helpline.

Luckily the agent I find on the line is helpful. He asks the same questions and at the end says I must email him a proof of address so he can lodge a call with Vumatel. I sent that to him and he says, he has done it -- it should take up to 48hrs (2 days).

Wednesday, now a full week after placing my order, I call again. Vumatel has not yet added my address. Friday same story, by now I am thinking this is taking too long. Then I realise, I have the wrong address on the order -- even if Vumatel had added it, it would be wrong and we would have to go through this again. So Instead of starting this whole circus again, I decide to cancel my order and call Telkom instead. Guess what they say: the cancellation will take 5-7 days lol

I rest my case with Afrihost, its like they are not running a business. Its like they are running a circus.
